need some help with a code

96 ford ranger 2.3 L check engine light came on about 3 weeks ago went to auto zone used thair code puller and got code P1443 auxiliary emission control ,the guy at auto zone told me it was the deverter valve or gas cap well you know no such luck can any one help Thanks

Ford Ranger P1344

I had the same thing happen to me about a few day ago. Have you check out the EGR Valve or also it can be little holes that come anfd go from that valve. It also can be the canister purge valve or some people at auto zone call it the EGR Valve soldien. Check with the EGR valve to check if you have p.i.s. but check it when it on and rev up to about 2500 rpm. Good Luck

might check If you have a blown fuse it could cause a "check engine" or "service engine soon" light to come on. Blown fuse failure will cause a "check engine" light to appear, replace the fuse and the computer "check engine" will reset in 3 engine run cycles. I had the same thing happen to me.
