oxygen sensor adapter? how to wire it?

my escort 94 1.9 has the cables going from the front o2 sensor broken.
it seems they got hot and the insulation melted and the wiring inside snapped ... my engine check light it's been on for a while and i checked the codes and it was a 172( o2 sensor ) and i think is because the wires from the o2 sensor to the computer are broken off ....the problem is that the insulation is color coded and since the insulation is gone i cant tell where each wire goes ....there are four wires ...any help?i can post pics if it's easier to help me.
