water in transmission fluid? 99 duretec.

ok129K, never had a tranny problem taurus is 5 years 2 months old.

drivin beautifully down highway doin 75 and out the back is WHITE smoke. i immediatly pull it off the side road. dont see anything coming out from underneath the hood so i pop it on up. look on down the back of the radiator and see a little 1 inch outer diameter hose popped off. i assume its a the lower radiator hose since it was white smoke and its dripping clear brownish liquid (that bothered me)but it was just a hose, so i get it towed home.

i get the lower bumper valence off the nose so i can check the hose to see if it needs replacement and i check to see if its cracked and or bulged out and red liquid pours out, sticky red transmission fluid.

car still shifts smoothly. wasnt jerking that final quarter mile while i slowed down, nuthin just smoke and draining.

What would cause water to get into the trans fluid case?

I havent filled anything up recently so i know i didnt foul the liquid.

havent had anything done except the exhaust work 3 weeks ago.

Im thinking the water steamed up and just popped the hose off hose is in good condition but i'll probably replace it anyway.

any ideas people????

the transmission cooler is integrated into the radiator, if the radiator has gone bad, this could cause the 2 to mix. Replace the radiator, cooler, and flush the transmission.

When I've had white smoke out the exhaust, it was water getting into combustion.
