keyless and clueless

You have to go to the dealer, and have them programmed to your car. that is the only way to have them all work the same.

Not true. I just bought an 03 Impala with the remotes missing. I bought a couple off ebay and did it myself. Works great.

Taken from owners manual:

1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON. The radio must
be off.
2. Press and hold the TUNE or DlSP button on the
radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is
displayed.
3. Press the SEEK or PSCAN up or down arrows
to scroll through each available feature on your
main menu.
4. Press the PREV or NEXT buttons to scroll through
the lower menu. An asterisk (*) will appear next to
the item that is the current setting.

FOB PROG (Remote Keyless Entry
Transmitter Programming)
This feature allows you to match the remote keyless
entry transmitter to your vehicle. To match the
transmitter do the following:
1. Scroll, using the SEEK/SCAN up or down arrows,
until FOB PROG appears on the display.
2. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the
submenu. BEGIN will be displayed.
3. Press the TUNE/DISP button to start programming.
When the message PUSH FOB flashes, press and
hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the
first transmitter at the same time for 15 seconds.
A chime will be heard to verify the transmitter
is learned.
4. Repeat Step 3 for each additional transmitter.
The transmitter is programmed now. You can either exit
the programming mode by following the instructions
later in this section or program the next feature available
on your vehicle.
EXIT (Exit Feature Customization Mode)
This feature allows you to exit the vehicle customization
programming. To exit do the following:
Scroll until EXIT appears on the display.
Press the TUNE/DISP button to exit programming.
A chime will be heard to verify the exit.

Note:
The prossess abpve is a resynchronize procedure. Not to reprogramming procedure.

I don't understand. I purchased two new remotes from Ebay and programmed them to a car that I never had the remotes to. Wouldn't a resync only work on remotes that had already been programmed to the car?

Correct, the resync works when your batteries run down or you change them or you sat on the Key FOB and it is not responding. It may not work for everyone looking to replace there Key FOB. In that case they would have to get them Reprogrammed by the car dealership.
I need to replace my 2002 Impala Key FOB. When you bought yours on ebay did you have the part number or did you just buy one that was suggested to be used for your car?

Actually I just researched it on the internet. I don't have the specific link anymore but I was able to verify the part # before I bid.

Re: 03 impala keyless entry

ncc1701 is correct that the FOB can be programmed without going to the dealer. I also programmed mine myself by using the DISP button

Thumbs up Re: 03 impala keyless entry

1) To program the RKE transmitter, you must enter the customization main menu through the radio. Turn the ignition switch on to ON or ACC position and turn the radio off. Press and hold the DISP button on the radio for at least 5 seconds until SETTINGS is displayed. Using SEEK up or down arrow keys, scroll until FOB PROG appears on the display. Press PREV or NEXT button to enter lower menu. BEGIN will be displayed.

2) Press DISP button to start programming. When PUSH FOB message flashes, press and hold both LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the RKE transmitter for 15 Seconds. A chime will be heard to verify transmitter is learned.

3) Repeat step 2) for each transmitter to be used. All transmitters must be programmed in the same programming sequence.

4) Scroll until EXIT appears in the display. Press DISP button to exit programming. A chime will sound to verify exit.
