Need Help With Charging Problem in 91 RS Camaro

I was hoping someone could help me. I recently got a 91 RS Camaro. It has high miles but runs good. The problem I have is after you run it for awhile, the battery charging gauge keeps going down and then it won't start. We got a new battery and the gauge still stayed the same and the car left me set again. I got a new alternator and still the gauge stays the same. It sets at about 8 and then the longer it runs, it keeps going down towards the red and then eventually dies or won't start when turned off. Cannot figure out what else it could be. Before I got the new battery, it left me set and when I got jumped, it would not turn over, that's why I thought it had to be the alternator. But, like I said, put that on and the gauge still don't go past the 8 mark and when I run it locally, it goes down slowly and when I turn it off, it won't start or starts slow. Everything is slow too, my power windows, wipers, etc. I'm hoping someone knows what this could be. Looking forward to reading your posts. Thanks a lot.

check the wiring on the alt. Than check the fusable link between the starter and the battery..

check the battery make sure your terminals are clean and tight.. Follow the wiring down to the starter.. make sure the connections there are clean and tight..

if it wont even start with a jump, then its a wiring problem, it sounds like it could be a short to ground in the charging system, what i would suggest is to use a multimeter to check the resistance of all the wires in the circuits for an open, or short to ground.

It would have been helpful to know how long "a while" is.
Also does the batt. die when you're parked?
Anyway once you have determined you do not have a short to ground here's a secret to a faster pit stop: install a ONE WIRE type alternator. Since you have a new battery, and now you will have this impossible to mis-wire alternator you'll be good 2 go.
