Cool E32 1988 735IA stater does not completely dis-engage on startup.

Hello
My starter was dragging on the flywheel and ringing the ring gear
I had the stater rebuild, he found broken stuff in the stater drive engagement, he bushed the nose and replaced the broken stuff and rebuilt the motor.
Now it sounds right and turn the motor quickly but..
When the engine fires off, it doesent kick out the drive and it is causing a ringing noise.
Inspection shows the Flex plate teeth good and clean.
Any advise would be helpfull.

Since you posted the question about 2 months ago, and I haven't seen any follow up threads, I assume you solved the problem.

My best answer is buy a used starter from the salvage yard. Sometimes you have to keep swapping parts until you find one that works.
