New Z owner: slight hesitation on take off

Sweet board.. I just bought a 1990 N/A, At, Z.. Best car I have ever driven. I have a slight hesitation on take off.. Guy I bought it from thinks it just needs a tune up.. It runs awesome except for when you touch the gas a litle bit, it seems as though it wants to stall for a second.. Any help you guys can give would be great.. What should I expect to pay for a good tune up?? Thanks new Z fanatic

Re: New Z owner: slight hesitation on take off

Usually a hesitation when you stamp on it is due to the fuel mix being off. Could be a number of things causing this though:
MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor
O2 (Oxygen) sensors
FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator)
Fuel dampener
either fuel line (supply or return) being clogged or pinched or something.
ECCS

Tune up would cost you around $200-$400 here (Australia) so expect to pay about $150-$300 USD.

Have you remembered to change the timing belt when you got it?

um...i have that same problem with my 1990 auto. i have done a full tune-up and it is still there. mine is more of a quick hesitation like it bogging down for a split second. if you find it tell me, i just came to the conclusion that the auto transmission has a no slip feature or something. who knows???

Re: New Z owner: slight hesitation on take off

The vents will continue to blow if your car is moving, it will be kinda cool air but its not because the AC wont turn off its becuase the vents are still venting. Some manufactures leave this in the car for safty reasons.

yea it sounds like the compresser switch is shot.... may want to also check your R134a Charge too. It could also be low, if not gone.
