Tools you cant live without.

This post is for the basic tools every Z owner needs. I will start with my personal favorites.

Digital Volt/Ohm Meter, (DVOM) I love this thing great for ALL things on the Z, except of course a timeing belt.

A good set of metric sockets, 6pt (5.5mm-27mm)
6inch 3/8ths extension. 12" 3/8ths extension.
3/8ths stubby wratchet.
wratcheting wrenches......(10mm-17mm)
a 1/2" breaker bar AHHH SAVE MUCH BACK WORK!
Torque wrench (20lb-100lb)
and a good savings acount............. for those jobs you dont want to tackle.
And my one tool I always have behind the seat...... Dead blow hammer.
Comes in handy for personal defence and for getting rusty brake rotors off.

I could probly go on for ever with tools, but I will leave some for you all. What do you like to keep in your tool boxes for your cars.

freak, we are talking about working on cars here. not playing with yourself!!! just joking, ole buddy ole pal.

-vice-scrips (sp?) always come in handy for me.
-continutity tester
-spark-plug socket. (maybe thats just me and my VG, but it seems like i am always changing or checking spark plugs).
-also, for spark-plugs, i wrigged up a little tool to drop the spark plugs down in the slot. it is a foot long piece of stiff plastic tubing that is the same size as the tip of the plug. works really nice. remember, the best tools are the tools you make your self, that fit your particular job.

Haha!
BTW: Just so you know.. vise grips. Some also call them "locking pliers".

Currently, my favorite tool is a breaker bar and a can of penetrating lube (still talking about cars k3). Too much rust..

Re: Tools you cant live without.

Screw patience...To me, the most vital tool is beer...

Little, flexible hands/arms really WOULD be great.

I need a new set of metric tools before I start doing anything...some of the things I used most in my box are gone...lost...stolen...lost in the car somewhere (litle adapter thing for my screwdriver bits to fit in...fell down in between the headlight and bumper...haven't seen it since).

One of the most useful things I have is one of those extendable antenna-ish things with a magnet on the end...saved me ass on numerous occasions...that and it's great when you don't feel like bending over to pick up a bolt or something.

I think the above statement would be the reason for the laziness in the below statement.

I also need to replace my Magnet..... it fell down in front of my radiator and is attached to some subframe part that I cant even get to. Been there for 1000 miles and still holding strong. lol I was my best magnet too.

Try it sometime, its a very quick install

Re: Tools you cant live without.

No dumbass, that was a stick of Plutonium... It really takes the edge off. You gotta try that sometime as well, it works even better than the potatoe.

Anyways... Penetrating Lube is a must... For uh... Working on cars... Yea *scratches back of head* Ummm *Looks down and shuffles feet* Yeaaa...

... Ahem... Sorry, I let myself out again

I think, like Broke said, the best tool to work on the Zed with, is the factory service manual... Cant touch the VG without it in my honest opinion.

... But that patience thing is always good too
