car wont start? ignition??

i have searched and i saw a similar problem and i tried and checked what they said to do (bad battery connection or dirty posts) and the connection was fine and the posts are clean
ok tonight i was leaving after having dinner with my mom and when i got in my car and turned the key (clutch was in) all i heard was a click (i still had power and everything) so i waited for a little bit and tried again (b/c it has done this once before and i just waited for a little bit and it started) so finally after like 5-10 mins, it starts up what could this be?

Are you positive your battery is charged enough? If you hear anything happen when you turn the key, then your ignition switch and fuse should be working (if any lights come on in your dash, etc.)

Could be a wire grounding out somewhere...

you can turn on the lights, radio, and gauges but the car just does one click when you turn the key to start it. it only does this problem some times though

hmmm...i have this problem sometimes but my problem is my ignition switch...when i turn the key to 'on' my lights and everything work, except for the power windows...i have to reach under the dash and jiggle around the ignition switch and i kind of have to stick it to a certain place in order my my car to start...you can try doing that...

where is the ignition switch under the dash

normally to see it, you have to rip off the lower part of the dash under the steering wheel and you take off the column cover. it's located on the left. it plugs into a connector. i think mine has a lose connection or something because like i said, sometimes i'll be driving and my car will just die out and i have to reach way under and up in there to jiggle it and then suddenly everything comes back alive. right now it must be in the perfect spot because my car hasn't died in about a month or so...

my car doesnt die though it just doesnt start sometimes (twice so far in a months time)

check the wires on ur starter and maybe the starter itself. sometimes if you take something and tap on the starter it'll start up. but i'd still check the starter.

Sounds like it could be your starter.

yeah lol i did that with our old lawn mower when it would turn over (taped on the starter)

Do the other electrical items power off when you try to start the car?

I would check the wiring to the starter, eve tho the wires are connected there could be corrosion inside the covering. I have had this problem before ( although not with DSM) , and the wires felt fine, but they were very corroded, put a new conncetor on, and no problems since.
