leaf springs

Brand new to this forum. I hope this place is as helpfull as the guys at Ford Six. I have a 1973 mgb GT. It is the process of a full restore. I have cleaned greased the rear end. I have the tube shock conversion. I put in the brand new 7 leaf springs called for all the gt models. everything lines up except the rear spring hangers are pointed to the front of the car and the springs touch on the frame. You can see the wheels are too far forward when looking at their position in the wheel well. Also, the car sits up very high compared to my other 1973 GT. I was told by the retailer to preload the springs: where the rear mounts will point to the rear as normal. Also, the pinion angle is way too high. I can see that repositioning of the spring mount to the rear and squashing the spring flatter should change all the problems but my problem is how to flatten the spring out to line up the rear spring mount to the rear?
