Big 16g vs Small 16g
Ok i want to buy a new turbo this winter and the other day a guy at a performance shop was telling me to go with the small 16 g because im AWD. He said the big 16g would lag up to much being AWD. Is this true? Or is he a moron?

Re: Big 16g vs Small 16g
..................... moron. complete utter moron. Turbo's will lag just as much on a FWD as on a AWD. Actually, we AWDers are better with turbos with higher lag becuase we can launch at much higher rpms than the FWD boys. Also, we won't have to worry about wheelspin when the boost comes on. Go tell that guy to go read a book.

Re: Big 16g vs Small 16g
And let me add that you can't even measure the difference between the two turbos, spool or performance. Everyone thinks that because the big 16g is bigger than the small it will lag more. Do these poeple realize how SMALL the difference between them is? They have the same turbine wheel and housing too! LMAO. Ah well.

Re: Big 16g vs Small 16g
The big and small 16g have slightly different compressor wheels. Same housings all around, same center. There are poeple running small 16g just as fast as large 16gs. Very minor difference. I also havent seen an appreciable difference between them in airflow, measured on my car.
The EVO16g is different. SBR has a nice page that lists all the differences. But the wheel is better (and airflow is ~5 lbs higher), the turbine housing has some improvements, still the same wheel though as far as I know. I think the small and big are parctically the sam thing, while the evo3 is a clear improvement.
