camshaft position censor 96 passat

I have a 96 4cyl gas engine 2.0L
found out that I have a camshaft position censor problem and need to replace
I bought a new one but I can't seem to find the location of it.
can anyone please help

It is inside the distributor. Usually they sell the whole distributor with a new sensor inside, where did you get the sensor by itself?

I got a new sensor by itself through a distributor near rome, ny. I ended up having to get a whole new distributor though.

Did this fix your problem? I can not get my car inspected. Purchased a new distributer and the ck engine light keeps comming back on with the camshaft pos sensor as a code. I nead help!
