car giving problems any tips.... (damm ford)

so when the car acts good its a mazda but when it decides to act gay its a ford...

so here the problem, since it got cold the damm car has been boosting 17psi.. that way too much boost considering the mbc is set at 12psi.. and the once boost kicks the rmps arent as fast to go up as it used to be.. it sucks.. also i usually hit fuel cut off after 12.5psi.. but now it allows me to go all the way to 17psi and stay there for like 2 sec. then the fuel cut off hits.. it sux, i can floor the car any more b/c it hits 17psi and then i have to let off.. i dont know what the hell is worng, it tried to turn down the mbc but it still creeps to the 17psi, and its bad b/c my fuel sys is good for 12psi at max and thank got the motor can take up to 18psi..so as of now im clueless.. im gona just by-pass the mbc and run a vacume like from the wastegate to the turbo nipple and hopefully it will boost 6psi(that where the wastegate is set for).. and other tips, and can anyone give a reason whey the car feels sluggish under boost, it doesnt pin me in my seat like it use to.. i want my old probe back.. damm car...
thanks

As to why your rpms are climbing slower at 17psi. Do you have the stock knock sensor still on? If so then at that boost level you're probably detonating/knocking and the engine is pulling timing back hence a loss of power. Weird, MBC should be very stable hot or cold (some differeces but not 5psi).

Even if the motor can handle 18psi, you're only delivering fuel for 12psi. You can still fry the engine without the proper fuel management, no matter how strong the engine is. Without enough fuel you're gonna be running lean at 17psi. So let's say you're A/F is about 12:1 at 12psi. Your setup only allows for max boost of 12psi, at 17psi your car is only able to deliver enough fuel to run 12psi, your A/F is waaaaaaayyyyy above 12:1 now, which spells trouble for you and your engine. Get it fixed or drive carefully until you can fix this problem.

This is just my opinion but I'm pretty sure this is why you feel like you're losing power.

Did you consider a boost leak, that would throw the readings off, and cause you to run slower.
Also if a vacuum line(especially those cheap POS plastic Autometer ones for boost gauges) got pinched it will show higher boost...mine was showing 14 or 15 when I was boosting 12.

But DL72's idea is logical as well.

No he dont have the brains to think of something like that anyone who buys a ford and expects it to go fast does have the brain power to find the source of the problem

I put this as clearly as I can...z28 drifter, you are welcome to your opinions, however ignorant they may be...if you don't like Ford...fine, if you don't like turbos...fine

But you will show respect or your stay here at AF will be very short lived. If you wanna come in here with 16 posts and start insulting the mental capacity of valued members you will be gone. This is your one and only warning. Shape up or bye bye

Re: car giving problems any tips.... (damm ford)

Sounds much like a pinched boost line to the wastegate. Mine did that and I boosted to nine when I was suppposed to go to five. Maybe a sticky wastegate?

Re: car giving problems any tips.... (damm ford)

its deffinatly not a vacume leak, i check all my vacume hoses that have anything to do with boost.. i felt no cracks or leaks, im becoming convinced that the mbc is shot.. but the only way im gona know is to run a vacume hose form the wastegate acuator to the turbo nipple, also i know that the boost gauge is reading correctly b/c i hit my fuel cut off after 12.5 psi where im suppose to, if it was reading wrong, the needle would be pinned on 15psi and i would be able to take it to readline but i hit fuel cut off..

as for z28drifter.. he can kiss my ass.. dont you just hate coky newbies that think they know it all, he prorbably doesnt know the difference betweend a wastegate and a bov..telling me i have no brains, if i didnt i wouldnt have a 14sec probe.. yea 14's may not seem like much but when you can do that with 4cyld and turbo its something, i dont neeed 490hp like you...but what ever your comments arent welcome..soo, keep it up and see if you dont get banned..

everyone else thanks for the helpful info, ill use it to try and trouble shoot..
