Too much power?? Is this normal??

Got a 94 SL that shwaz automatic, now 5-speed and anytime I floor it in first or second gear I lose tire grip (they spin) between like 4 and 6 grand (RPM)...or for example if I did a burnout I could do it straight through to 3rd gear. The tires are like new, plenty of tread and good quality, is this normal for a SL 5-Speed? I know LSD would make that better but i've never had a car that was able to do this. Only reason I ask is because it pisses me off when I can't floor it unless its past 2nd gear or below 4 grand in 2nd, I don't like not using the engine's full potential.

I doubt you have to much power, I bet you have to hard a tire or the pavement is cool.

Technical Automan, did you do the tranny swap or did a previous owner do it? I would love to know all about it. Not to hijack this thread, though, so send me a PM with details like cost, points of interest, etc.

Re: Too much power?? Is this normal??

I think he added a section to the FAQ regarding the swap...and he did it himself.
