Question New Tire Problem

Hi Guys. Just Got 2 New Front Tires On My 2001 And The Low Tire Pressure Light Keeeps Coming On. I Checked The Pressure And It's Ok. What Could It Be? Is The Sears Auto Shop That Put Them On Responsible Or Is There Some Specail Way To Reset After New Tires Are Installed. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated................

Re: New Tire Problem

Are they the same size as the originals? A lower profile might confuse the computer.

Re: New Tire Problem

I don't know where it is, but there's a sensor that reads the rolling speed of the wheels and reports back to the computer, it must be screwed up or disconnected somehow. You need someone with a 2001 factory service manual to tell you where to look.

Vincent007,

You must check each new tire's pressure upon installation, if correct, you need to reset the tire pressure section of your DIC display. This has to be done whenever you change tires.

This is normal after replacing the tires and needs to be reset. To do this, scroll through your computer menu to the gauges section and then to the section for tire pressure. It should say "low pressure". Push and hold the reset for about 5 seconds. This is the same procedure you go through to reset the oil pressure. If you just hit the reset button when the warning screen goes up, the computer does not actually reset, it only clears the screen of the warning until next time you start the engine.
