just wanted to ask is there anyway to adjust the carburetor on a 69 firebird for more power????
and for that matter is there any other thing that i can adjust or alter to give me more power or acceleration.... just trying to find out a few things since i'm restoring this car |

OK since I don't have a 69 and never adjusted a Carb myself although I have seen it done I thought it would be more helpful to just get you a site that explains your Carb and how to adjust it. Hope this helps and let us know what you learned so maybe I can help the next guy a little better.

If it's the stock '69 Q-Jet, there are no real external adjustments to gain power. You MIGHT gain a little if you "soften" the opening of the secondary air valve. You can also change the secondary metering rods for more (or less) fuel to optimize your mixture at higher revs. You'll need a Q-Jet book to explain the procedure.
You can change the jetting and/or metering rods in the primary, to richen the low-speed and mid-range. That will require disassembly. There's a man in Ohio, Cliff Ruggles ([email protected]), that does "magic" with Q-Jets. I've seen a few big-cubed Pontiacs in the 10s (1/4 mile) with Q-Jets done by him. You should also get Jim Hand's book "How to Build Max-performance Pontiac V8s". There are a number of good tips for the Q-Jet, but also all the other areas in need of attention with the Injun Engine. I have a '69, myself, that's coming back, ever so slowly ($$). I'm using a 440 CID (428 bored .060") with a 4-speed and 4.10 gears. Expect to get mid-to-high 11s on 93 octane, no adders. I Did It
Hey you all thanks for the help you offered, I just wanted to let you know that i did get the carb adjusted... it must not have been stock but it runs 10 times better and on the carb i have not sure of brand but there is 2 screws on the front lower part of it and I simply adjusted them to my liking
