Spark Plugs
I have a 1994 Lumina APV with a 3.1. How do you get to the spark plugs in the back? I can't even get my hand back there.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Spark Plugs
Take off air cleaner and reach around blindly. May need a towel to lay on, it can be awkward.
It can be done. They may even come out easier than the front ones. Less rust. Did mine a couple months ago. (95 3.1 APV) The boot is the worst part. Pull and twist, it helps. As a side note, with air cleaner off the O2 sensor can be reached with a long extension (maybe a swivel) from top so you can get a pipe on the wrench if needed. (95, 94 I assume is similar) |

Re: Spark Plugs
easier yet, put a jack with a board (to spread the weight) under the trans pan. Take the two upper "dog bone" motor mounts off, and jack up the transmission slowly. This will rotate the engine forward so you can get to the back plugs quite easily. Just don't go too far forward and push the engine into the radiator.

Re: Spark Plugs
I've run through my method here before, using the E-brake to freeze the motor after rocking it forward. My friend did it once and forgot to put the dogbones back in before driving, flipped the motor against the radiator.
