Question buying my first import.... need some help 180SX

here goes. im looking into buying my first import. im from australia and have own some outlandish V8's and a few other 4's. Now im getting into the import scene. a few mates have said the nissan 180sx is the way to go for a n00b as they offer the best result for little money spent. I just want to know what kind of problems these cars develope. I mean if you drive them too hard or boost them too high standard internals will shit themselves but apart from that what else am i looking at. do they develope major mechanical repairs or just die like the 300zx does. heres some low down on the card im purchasing. any imput to future mods would be greatly accepted. nothing to outlandish just to keep the thing on the road and not blow up.

Vehicle - 1989 NISSAN 180SX
Price - $9,500
Kilometres - 86,000
Body - 2 door Coupe
Colour - Midnight Blue
Interior Colour - Grey
Transmission - 4 speed Automatic
Engine - 4 cylinder Petrol Turbo 1.8L (1809cc)
Car features, Full electrics (Power Windows, power mirrors etc), Power steering, Sunroof, Clarion Stereo system, 17inch Advanti rims, 3inch cat back exhaust system with 3inch dump pipe, Turbosmart e-boost management system, R spec turbo timer, K&N pod filter, Rego + RWC,

Say no to automatic. Get a manual transmission or gear box, whatever you call it there. It's a good motor but I would suggest a newer one with an sr20det. That motor is strong as shit, and reliably capable of pretty high hp without internal upgrades. Have fun. I wish those cars with those motors were here in the U.S.

Definately too much money. I also agree that you would have to pitch the auto trans. in favor of the manual because handling will be better controlled by you, the driver.
