seat problems

i have no power to the drivers seat fuctions forward or reverse, power mirriors and memory function also not working checked the switch and works fine i dont see how all the moters would go out at the same time the recline function works but nothing else with the seat including the mirrors is working something lose or not connected any ideas??

Check the wire loom on the drivers door. Chances are there are some wires broke from flexing, a common problem. Push the rubber boot back to inspect the wiring & fix it yourself, most dealers are terrible with electrical repairs.

That's the problem - I've had these wires break several times. It's tedious to fix, but relatively simple.

Read the whole thread, then repair the broken wires. Splice, solder & tape seems to be the most common repair method. You may wish to disconnect the battery to avoid a misshap while working on the wiring.

Retro-D, is it safe to disconnect the battery on a 98? My dad said it might mess up the computer, but I think he's just paranoid.

It seems with our cars there is risk involved in almost any procedure. There is more risk to leave the battery connected and start poking around in the wiring in my opinion. So you should weigh the consequences before you start out on any repair. Some people worry so much they would rather pay the dealer their hard earned money to take on some of that risk. My advice stands, disconnect the positive battery cable before working on the wiring loom. You will have to reset the clock and the Aurora's computer will go through some routines to relearn. And yes, as with any sleeping dog there is risk in disturbing 7 year old electronics. On the rewards side, you will be learning how to handle minor repairs that pop up and drive a fully functional car you can be proud of.

I created a new thread (power seat fuse?) then realized this thread had been created. I have the exact same problem, the –25 degree temp yesterday did not help. I will pull back the wire loom and inspect the wires.

My question is:
Is it coincidental that the mirrors/memory are not working either like shaudeus's Aurora, or are the mirrors/seat memory function/drivers seat power on same wire?

You may have an open circuit to what controls the mirrors, seat & memory. Check those door wires at the flex point, I wouldn't be surprised if the orange one was broken or shorted out. The wires love to snap in cold weather as you found out. Remember, there is voltage present, disconnect the battery positive terminal to avoid electrical remorse. Join me in a symbolic one finger salute to our friends at GM for incorporating such a retro-designed wiring loom, same foolish design as on my long departed 67 Toronado..sigh. What next, plastic fuel lines :-)
