Question What to upgrade for HP?

for under $1000 or $2000 how much extra horsepower can you get in a GT? and with what products? NOS? Supercharger? Turbo? Intakes? Exhaust? Headers?

Re: What to upgrade for HP?

Dont waste your money on intakes and exhaust!!! your halfway to a turbo kit with $2k. save it!!
Superchargers blow. literally. Turbocharging is much more efficeint and reliable. Better HP #'s to boot. if you want a quick fix, NOS is a good choice, but not recommended. you'll tear your shit up. get the turbo kit or go to a strip club and blow it on lap dances and booze it up. drive safe and have fun.

Re: What to upgrade for HP?

go internal all the way! save your money and do a full motor build. raise your compression to 11:1. bore out the throttle body's, and do camsb along with some other shit. hit about 300 whp. that may not be as much as fi, but that is bragging rights!

Re: What to upgrade for HP?

I don't think i want to turbo, but forced induction seems logical...What kind of horsepower can i expect from anything other than SDS?

Re: What to upgrade for HP?

if your gonna go turbo, you dont need to raise the compression rate with the pistons. if going forced induction, the 8.8:1 are better. they are the ones in the evo 8

There is no way possible to hit 300whp naturally aspirated with the 4G64. At the MOST, you would be lucky to hit 240whp, and that is with spending over $7000 easily.

To make power out of this motor, go turbo. It was made for turbo. the car comes with a 9:1 compression ratio, on 0.2:1 over the EVO's 8.8:1 CR. A simple bolt on turbo kit will give you more power well within the engines capabilites and at half the price. An NA build is simply not worth it.

All motor, not a good idea on these cars.

I can Believe you people he actually asked you what he can do for about 1000-2000 dollars and you telling him how to spend about 4 grand at least or some people are telling him to build a motor, does any of you know how much doest it coast, fully build motor, my buddy just did GTi he spend 9638 dollars so anyway, man the best way as someone posted up there is shange your headers on the good ones, dont try to save money on that, trust me i changed mine on my RS and i gained about 20 HP than put NOS on your car dont put more than 75 shot wet it will be another 500 maybe even less i got for my self kit from my frind for 200 and i installed it my self, so we are about at 700-1000 dollars, and next if you got some more money and it is not enough for good exhaust system, than get an electrical cut out, and run open headers, it will help you to get another 10-15 HP so with investing 1000-1300 buks you can get about 100+ HP

Re: What to upgrade for HP?

I call BS on that whole statement. there is no F-ing way you are gonna pull 20 whp from header's, not even the race only header's make that claim, and NOS is just.... well its just like bringing a model/whore to your high school prom, she may be the best looking, but when its all said and done all of the other guy's with their true dates (ie turbo's) dont have to worry about not getting "any" after the dance. their girl's will be in their lap then, and in 15 minutes, while you are paying that model to be refilled. so BS, NO NOS!!!!!! and I still stand on my ground's that all motor is the platform for the perfect turbo! So there

Re: What to upgrade for HP?

I have to be asshole. again.

heres the deal, rdidentity, shut the F up. you just proved you have zero knowledge about your car. EXHAUST and CAI are worthless. SO IS NOS, NOS is like finding an STD free hooker, it just aint happening. your best bet is to not post anything until you aquire further knowledge about your automobile.

Bottom line- until there is a large aftermarket support for the 3G, the only thing to do to make REAL hp is shell out at least $4-5 grand on a turbo kit. DFCOOLKID- save your money until you can get a turbo kit. and read the "upcoming chart" thread, youll see what i mean. exhaust and headers dont make a difference.

what?? let me ask you a question do you know anything about your eclipse, ahhhh let me think, NOOO!!! i wonder why there is no fast eclipses, jusr ricers who is going for look, and watching movies like Fand F, maybe you wioll keep typing some bullshit about it but i had experience with 3 eclipses and 2 of them went up to 500Whp so stfu and dopnt give bullshit that 3" exhaust system wont do anything and that headers wont do shit, and by the way read again where did i talk about whp??????? ok ! and for turbo kit, if you have a lot of money then go get shitty 3g kits and spend about 3-4 grand, if you want to go smart get nice garett turbo, custom piping and intercooler, all that you can do for about 1500-2000 buks, and about NOS someone said is like a whore, i wonder than why every single race car, track car is running on NOS ohhh??? read more about race cars assw. nitrous is very easy way to add some power to your car, and particularly if you have a big turbo, without nitrous you wont be able to do anything, so before posting anything just think what you are typing and then type.

Re: What to upgrade for HP?

F-ing newbie. 3 eclipse's huh? why have you gone through so many? is it because you destroyed your motor with NOS? or whatever it is, until you prove yourself around here, and show you have knowledge of cars shut the fuck up! you hold no water about anything you say. and everybody who is running NOS at the track, well that is because they have alreday done everything the possibly can do to their cars already. NOS should be the last thing you ever put on your car! so sit get up, move out of your parents basement, and get real!
