Question Question about body/frame types

Question about body/frame types

Is there any information online about the different body types
for the 70, 71, and 72 Chevelle?

Do all the Chevelles during this period have the same body
types?

Are there major differences between the SS and Malibu? or
is it just internals?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Question about body/frame types

For the most part, they're the same, from '70 thru '72. The headlights and tail lights changed. The 2-door cars are on a 112" wheelbase, while the 4-doors are on a 115".
For body part interchange, contact your better local wrecking yard. They will have an interchange manual, that will tell you which fenders, hoods, etc. will fit.
Malibu (2-door) and SS (no 4-doors) were both options on "Chevelle". Aside from running gear and certain interior appointments, the only difference is the badging.

Thanks!

That was exactly the information that I wanted to know. I am looking to buy a 70-72 chevelle, and I really like the way the lines on a chevelle SS body flows. And so I just wanted to make certain that I could just take a malibu and get the same effect. I was going to replace the car with all new performance parts - and I would'nt want to do that to an original/restored chevelle SS.
