Perfect Reaction Time!.........Against Me

Well, I have a time slip that has a perfect .500 reaction time on it, lol, too bad its not my reaction time!

It happened to me with 4 cars to go Sunday, doesn't happen too often, but, that's part of it I reckon.

Here's the stats from the run:

Me (Opponent)
Index: 4.51 (3.60)
RT: .514 (.500)
60ft: 1.551 (1.231)
330ET: 4.488-breakout foul (3.598-breakout foul)
Double breakout, he wins though because he was closer to his dial.

It was a really good run. I peddled the gas one time, and he said he did too. When I got about 30 ft. from the finish line, I looked over my shoulder and seen that he was about 1-1.5 cars behind, so I figured I had enough time to let off once. I got the 1st finish, by .005, but of course I brokeout of my time more then he did, so he won.

If it hadn't of been for that perfect light of his, I could have got my car back in its time probably, but if a bullfrog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass everytime he jumped either, lol. I'd rather have a close race like that then a blow away anyways.

He was driving a dragster (rail) for anybody wondering what kind of car he had to be so fast, lol.

Aslo from Sunday, I had a pretty close run (close to being perfect) myself. (this was the first round elimination)

Index: 4.48
RT: .503
60ft: 1.557
330ET: 4.492

So that's .015 seconds off a perfect run, my best is .012. The guy I raced redlighted and brokeout, lol.

And on a side note, this is not the first time I've had someone to get a perfect reaction time against me. It happened my 1st weekend of driving the car, in the second round. I dont remember the exact numbers, but I believe the guy i raced was dialed like 4.9x, and I was dialed 4.45, he had the .500 light, and I cut a .512, and he brokeout pretty bad, like .03x and I went .03x off my dial. Needless to say, he beat me to the finish line, but just like the rail did to me Sunday, I had a good enough light to put pressure on him to stay in the gas.

Nice reaction times. How come you don't run a full 1/4 mile?

Nice run man.
I remember the first time I took my car to the track, I had a horrible reaction time, it was almost a full second or something. The guy next to me has a purple miata with a flame paint job...pulled .003 off a perfect reaction time...yet I beat him by 3.5...I was mildly shocked, I thought he had more work than a simple paint job...

Anyway, clawhammer, I think he mentioned in another thread that there aren't many 1/4 tracks near him or something.

That's what it takes. Practice. I'm still a rookie at driving, but I've been on the "sidelines" of drag racing for over half my life, lol.

Don't want to mislead ya into thinking that I do this on a foot break though, lol. I do have a trans. break and a delay box, but it still requires reflexes, and consistancy (especially consistancy). In case you don't know, you set the delay box (usually from .980 seconds to 1.080 seconds, if you're on a full .500 tree) and work from there, but the idea is, hold the trans break untill the top yellow light comes on, then let it go, and the delay box keeps the break locked up for the specified time before it releases.

Anyways, its harder then it looks (or sounds), and its really easy to try and "guess" at when that top yellow light comes on.

Well, the track is only a 330 ft. track, and its pretty close to where I live AND only cost $40 to enter (compared to around $80 or $90 for tracks that takes over 2 hours to get to).

I will be running at 1/8th tracks next season however (graduate college in May, HOPEFULLY have the ability to shell out that $80 or $90 + extra gas money by then) atleast some of the time (still going to go to the local track if it opens though, you just can't beat paying $40 for a shot at $1000, $500, or $100 during the season).

I bracket race, and I don't think anybody really bracket races in the 1/4 (atleast not at the tracks that I will be going to, they all only run the 1/8th for my class, which is Top ET, or Bracket 1, or Top Eliminator or somethign like that, lol, just all depends on the track).

If I did run a 1/4 though, it'd probably go 10.50 or less.

The 1/8 mile track here only costs 7 bucks to enter, no matter if you race or just watch. A very famous 1/8 mile track. George Rays drag strip.

Lol, yeah, I seen that track on Horse Power TV once. It looks like it would be a fun place to race. The atmosphere at that track is very similar to the one that I race at.

NHRA tracks are all on a 00.00 perfect tree now ... I assume this 1/8 miler havn't converted over yet?

No, it was from the local track where I race (330 ft). So .500 is still perfect (and not way late, lol).

I think the 1/8th tracks that are close to me have always run off of the 00.00 trees.
