Question Transmission Indicator Light not working

Hello all,

I recently inherited a 95XJ Sport automatic from my son. I noticed the tranny shifter bezel is not lighted when the headlights are turned on. About a year ago we replaced the tranny. My son could not remember whether or not this started then. I'm getting ready to pull & clean the neutral safety switch to correct a problem with the back-up lights not working. Anyone have any idea whether or not this is related or where I should check. I was just going to replace bulb but none of the parts stores carry it. I didn't want to order it until I knew that was the problem. Thanks in advance.

Re: Transmission Indicator Light not working

if the light is the same as the one in the dash indicators ( i believe it is....) you can pull the bulbs out of the sockets if you are careful in doing so, also, you can compare the bulbs. i got some at autozone that fit mine

Talking

Just to bring closure to this thread. A commonly found 194 bulb is a direct replacement for the 658 bulb I thought I needed. My PRNDL is lit now! Also the NSS overhaul gave me my back-up lights. Thanks all!
