2000 Cherokee scraping from rear wheels

There is a scraping noise coming from my rear wheels. I have had the brakes done and that did not fix it. I hear it mostly when taking off or turning slow. Someone told me CV joints, but I have no clue.

Re: 2000 Cherokee scraping from rear wheels

First, I too have a 00' Xj, there are NO CV joints in this rig. First thing you should check is the pinion bearing. With the vehicle on a level surface, transmision in Neutral, wheels blocked, check for any play at the end of the driveshaft were it meets up with the rear end. Up and down, also check your universal joints in the driveshaft. Check for those are the same. Everything should be tight, with very little, to no play at all. Let me know what you find. Double check your brakes, long shoe on the back short on the front (of the drum brake setup).

Are your tires scraping on the fender wells? I was hearing a strange sound from the rear end after I moved up to 235s, and I found out it was the tires scraping
