88 Trooper would lose power, now won't start
Hi, For the past past 3 months my trooper would lose power while occasionaly I was driving but then would be OK. Yesterday it just wouldn't start. It turns over great & runs for a couple of seconds but acts like it is not getting gas. I bought the chilton's & hayes manuals but they are very weak!!!! I can't even figure out where the fuel filter or fuel pump is from reading them.
Please help if you can. Thanks, Bandia |

I am having a simular problem, 88 trooper LS, will run ok for a bit, after a little bit, acts like it is not getting enought gas. jerks alot, no power, if you cut the engine off, and restart, will be ok for a bit then does it again. I have replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the gas tank out was full of rust, checked the fuel pump, fuel pump seems ok, and the engine is getting gas all the way to the engine. Checked the EGR Valve, air sensor valve, everything seems ok, Any suggestions...?
Also it is susposed to have a self diagnostics, I have grounded the cable that is susposed to put it in diagnostic mode, and does not seem to work. Any ideas? |

Re: 88 Trooper would lose power, now won't start
I found the plastic intake pipe before the air throttle had a hole in it. air flow sensor was not seeing all the air.
