Passkey Module Help For Oldsmobile Aurora
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HAVE A 97 OLDSMOBILE AURORA AND IT STARTS BUT THEN IIT DIES. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE PASSKEYll MODULE. WHERE IS THE PASS KEY MODULE AT AND HOW DO I BYPASS IT?????? RWK |

I'm not sure that's it. I understand that PASSKEY-II prevents starting completely. That is, if the module does not detect one of 13 possible resistance values (that's the chip on the key) that it will not allow the engine to even start.
But, to answer your question, the module is located under the bolster on the left hand side right near the where the parking brake pedal mounts. Bypassing it is not simple as the ECM looks for a possitive signal from the PASSKEY module before allowing engine operation. That is, you can't simply remove it. I have read on here that there are ways to identify the resistance value of your module and that a resistor bypass is available from auto-alarm installers. |
