Question Steering rack question

On an earlier thread I mentioned that I can not turn right @ idle sometimes. Talked to a fellow who owns a 98, who had left turning problems. He had his rack rebuilt and said now a year later that it is still working good. A caddy mechanic said that it would probably be my bearing plates (on top of the front struts) that need to be replaced. But I'm not sold on that because of no popping noise or signs. My question to all of you (in a form of a poll I gues) is: How many of you have had the rack replaced on your cars. I have about 95000kms (60000Miles) on our pearly 97. And yeah what a ride she is. Especially at 150-180+ kms on the highway, BMW's disappear nicely in the rear view mirror.

I love dusting those little NAZI CARS! (joking) Yeah a few weeks ago during a rain storm, I had the same exact problem with steering on my 97 Classic. Hope it does not come back. Nothing weird with the power steering system has happend since but It was scary...
