Neon head gasket defect
I've had my head gasket replaced twice on my '96. Once at 57K and once at 114K. Has Chrysler fixed this problem in later models ? If so, what model year was it fixed ? Thanks.

Re: Neon head gasket defect
95 was supposed to be the bad year for head gaskets...I think felpro just redid their gaskets, but I can't be sure, just something a friend told me.

Re: Re: Neon head gasket defect
I'm not sure exactly what year the head gasket upgrade was done but it has been done, I believe 2000 neons and up, anyway, they use a new mls gasket, I believe that means (multi layered steal), this gasket seems to have solved the problem, I have a 2000 neon and I havn't seen any signs of head gasket failure.
hope that helps!!!! |

Re: Neon head gasket defect
98 and up are the year they switched to mls
if you keep blowing gaskets it might be that your head is warped and might be required to be machined out |

I replaced mine at 110K when it went out with a new Felpro.
I now have 230K on it and still going strong.
