Fuel Filter Replacement 98 K1500 5.7

I have the Haynes manual for my truck but in there it says that you need a whole kit to check the pressure of the fuel system etc. Can I just remove the fuse to the fuel pump, start up the truck and let it run out of gas instead? Thanks.

What are you trying to do ? Do a fuel psi test or replace the fuel filter???

sure that would work and also remove the gas cap that helps to remove a pressure in the tank

I'm just trying to replace the fuel filter. I'm not really worried about testing the pump or pressure right now. Thanks for the quick reply!

If you're just trying to replace the fuel filter, all it takes is a 19mm and 15 mm wrench.
