parts/cars direct from japan

my mat yousaf has a cavalier (vauxhall) but is scrapping it ands he says hes gonna get an r32 gtr for about £6000, his only query though is that if he buys an evo he can get the parts from brit mainland and almost straight away, if he gets a skyline though he wants to know if there are any fast and good services for importing new/used skyline parts or maybe the car itself,

CAN YOU HELP ?

Ask yourself this.

Has the skyline ever been sold new there? If not odds are Nissan won't stock parts for them. That means everything is X Japan. New parts are exorbantly expensive. Second hand parts would be dependant if someone is bring in cars for wrecking.

Re: parts/cars direct from japan

Nissan continues to make the parts for the skyling new even now, and new parts arent that expensive for the normal replacement stuff. Dead ignitor boxes etc can get a little pricey, but the gaskets, timing belts, and other attaching parts arent that bad. Ocassionaly some of the parts like the fan clutch will swap over from the 300zx, which was sold there new.

What about parts for the R32`s especially body panels, ligths etc.Can you still get these easily or are they getting scarce.

Skylines are the greatest cars ever but getting parts can be a nightmare depending on where you live.

You can still get them new. Body panels are going to cost you, as they are not items that are slated as normally replaced. The engine parts and driveline parts are readily available however.

Re: parts/cars direct from japan

Since you're in the UK, check the current issue of Top Gear(the 3D cover Ferari issue). It's got a buyer's guide on the R33, with a lot of pertinent info for your friend, even though he wants an R32. For example, there is only one Skyline-approved Nissan dealer in the UK. I think it's in Middlehurst or something.

r32 parts

Parts for the R32 off the shelf are still easy to get hold here in Japan.
Prices are aren`t that bad really. As I`m in the trade.. (don`t worry guys I won`t start advertising here) I have to get certain things done to cars that I buy such as timing belts and waterpumps..... Recently sorted out a timing belt for R32 GTR and I think it was to the equivilant to about 35-40quid from a parts supplier. You can get most service parts from "blueprint" stockist. Just look up a local motor factors and ask if they sell that brand. Blueprint specializes in import service parts in the UK.

body panels will still be available new as well as secondhand for a while as the Japanese are still in love with the R32 GTR. I`ve even noticed that the low mileage GTS-t type Ms are fetching good money at auctions recently.

I reckon that your mate should stop worrying and just buy himself a 32 GTR!!! To me, they are the dogs goolies... R33-R34 GTRs are cool but you don`t really have to do much to the 32 for that mean look. Lowered and a nice set of wheels will do the trick. For me, the R32 and the R33 is a bit like the difference between the Evo5 and the Evo 7....
