Unhappy Help with the heater blower motor ppplllleeeeaaassseee!!!

I've heard of the saying "when it rains it pours", but my 92 is giving me hail 1992 Rs, v8, my heater motor went out. made sure it wasn't the switch first, I've gotten all of the top 3 bolts out, but I am stuck on the very last one on the bottom...I've tried wrenches, drivers and sockets, but nothing seems to fit in straight thanks to the fender well...i am a single mom and don't have a lot of time to think out a strategy on getting this new motor in by tomorrow( very cold here). Anyone have any suggestions other than a cutting torch? This one may sound crazy but I'm going to ask anyways: why on earth does my ac come on when you turn it to heat and vent?(when it was working, you could hear it cut in and out) I know it comes on with the defrost, but is it supposed to run with the heater and vents also? Please help me!!! thanks!

The only suggestion is to keep on tryin at it, It was about 5 years when I did my last blower motor on a third gen, and it fought me all the way out. There are some third gen gurus here though that can help you out better than I can. They know there stuff and are very big help.

well thanks. I tried until I killed 2 flashlights...funny thing is the guy that sold me the motor told me it would take a 5/16 socket. So I bought one. Figured that since this was my first time working on my car without anyone there, I grabbed the manual and it only had like 3 steps. Didn't seem that hard....untill it started snowing and I don't have a garage. Took a 7mm by the way. They make it sound sooooo easy in those books. Im gonna figure it out in the morning. It just gets soo cold...

yea, 7mm. If it is GM, you can pretty much take the whole inside apart with a 7mm phillps screwdriver and a 1/4 inch

Re: Help with the heater blower motor ppplllleeeeaaassseee!!!

a small 1/4" drive ratchet with a shallow socket should fit under the motor without hitting the fender.. If not, use a 1/4" drive ratchet with a long extention and a swivel..

You need a flexible extension. They look like a piece of metal cable. With it you can go around obstacles, go thru offset holes etc.
