passenger side noise????

My '97 transport is starting to make a strange "hollow rattle" noise from the passenger side area. When I pop the hood, the noise is very apparent but i can't tell if it's the belt tensioner or compressor. The noise is present when idling but disappears under load.
Any idea's???
