Hi,
The Engine Light came on about 2 weeks ago at around 88k. Can anyone tell me what's wrong and what can I do to make it go away without spending $$ at the dealer? Thank's for the help..... |

Could my muffler cause the light to come on? I suspect a leak in the muffler because I do notice my muffler has been louder than usual.

Most likely you've probally gotten this problem fixed by now(hopefully)but for anyone who have had their engine light turn on & there's clearly nothing wrong, it's most likely your gas cap. For some reason Mitsubishi put in a safety latch that if you don't twist it & hear 3 clicks when you close the cap, it'll go on. Only way to fix it is at a Mitsu dealer for like 85 bucks. It's stupid. Probally a scam.

Or just take you negitive battery cable off for about 1 min, and it will clear all the error codes. In the future, if it comes on, cycle your key from on to off to on to off to on within 5 seconds. Then count how many times the light blinks, thats the error code.
