86 to 87+ front end conversion

I just got my 86 gt . Not the best to look at but the engine is in great shape. Anyway I was wondering if you could just swap the front end of my 86 gt to the 87 or later front end. If I'm not mistaken, the headlights on 87 and later editions are the one piece right? I like those better than the ones on my 86. If I can't just swap one in for the other, are there any kits available. I've looked around but I can't find any info on this. Any help is appreciated

Re: 86 to 87+ front end conversion

no kit is made, you have to buy everything for the front end (bumper cover, reinforcement, headlight panel, lights) and a hood. find the wiring harness for the lights on a junked 87+ and wire it into your '86's wiring. having wiring diagrams for both cars helps tremedously.

personally i prefer the 4-eyed look to the more modern one, but that's just me. good luck.

Thanks for the info. Now I know what course of action to take. My sister's boyfriend's dad owns a junkyard and I've had my eye on one of the 87 stangs there. The front end is good so could i just rip it off of that?
