powdercoated valve cover ~~before and after pics~~
i got this valve cover off of ebay for $25 shipped. it looked like crap, but i got it with the intention of polishing it anyway. i couldn't get it polished just right, so i decided to powdercoat it. i also did my intake and i/c pipes...which came out like crap...but i'll save that for another post...
the powder is supposed to be almost chrome, but it's more like regular silver. here it is, dirty as hell. ![]() after i applied the aircraft cleaner and simple green. it's now bare aluminum. ![]() the finished product. got a few flaws, but i'm happy with it.

what paint did you use for the aluminum look and the red color? Nice job by the way!

Re: powdercoated valve cover ~~before and after pics~~
the red is from the g2 caliper paint i had leftover from a while back. i don't recommend that for anything other than calipers. it's way too thick and the brush strokes are too noticeable.
the powder i used is called almost chrome. anyway, after putting my i/c pipes, intake and vc back on the car, i was totally disappointed with the way everything came out. i figured i'd leave this one up to the professionals. i took everything back out, and i'm sending it all to bonehead performance to get coated correctly. i suck. |
