ABS Prob!!

I have a 95 monte Z34, and i am having a problem with the ABS. The ABS light is on although the brakes seem to work fine. Once in a great while, the ABS will kick on for no reason during low speed braking - in perfect weather. Anyone got any suggestions on what direction to go???

Re: ABS Prob!!

Go to the parts store like Kragen, Autozone, PepBoys and find out how to borrow their OBD scan tool. Autozone makes you buy it, you use it, then return it for refund. This is to get around Calif. law. Once you get the scan tool, follow the directions and scan the ABS system. It should tell you what wheel sensor is bad or other problems.

Re: ABS Prob!!

I had the same problem just fixed. It was a bad wheel sensor.

These Montes all have common problems. I better make a list and get them fixed before my extended warranty runs out.

Re: ABS Prob!!

Do what I did and just pull your abs fuse! I was having tons of ABS problems and the dealer wanted $1300 to fix it. I said NO WAY! My brakes actually work better with the ABS fuse fulled, but if you live where there is snow you better know how to pump your brakes!

Re: ABS Prob!!

Usually the problem lies within the speed sensor. These are fairly easy to replace out, maybe take you 2 hours for someone who knows nothing.

Get a good multimeter to see what the impedence is, find the sensor that's garbage, then replace it.
