If it doesn't work with either switch then it's probably the motor. Did get slow before it died? If so, it's the motor itself.

The window never got slow. it would work fine and then stop for a while and then come back alive working fine. Is there a conector some place that might be loose?

Usually when the motors die the get slow first. They'll also usually leave you with a window that's stuck open, so you're lucky in that regard There's a connector on the motor itself. There's also connectors at the switches. You may have to use a volt meter to check for voltage in all 3 places (both switches and at the motor when you operate the switch).
