RSX-S w/o Leather?

I know the RSX-S comes standard with leather seats; do you think if I had to order one anyway, they could do it with cloth? I hate leather seats... I wouldn't even care about paying for the leather seats, as long as they're not there.

This is probably a rookie question, but I've never bought a car that wasn't on the lot, so I don't know what the realistic options are.

Thanks.

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

The dealership wants your money and will do anything to get it. I had a dealership offer to change the entire interior of a car and add a sunroof to a car on the lot because they didn't have the one I wanted. You just have to tell them what you want and don't let them tell you it will cost 2k to get the cloth instead of leather. Dealers love to pull that crap.

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

I am not sure if they will change the leather, it is standard on the RSXS, with no cloth option. They may not have the resources to do it. I do not know of many dealers that will make custom stuff and not tack on some extra figures.

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

I am not sure what all comes with the leather package on a RSX but if you are talking strictly seats, they make cloth seats just not with the type-s. I am sure they will be more than happy to take those same cloth seats and spend 15 minutes swapping them out if that is what it takes for you to buy the car. If push comes to shove and acura is anything like nissan you can buy the cloth seats and then turn around and sell your leather ones and probally break even.

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

They would still need to order it. They do not keep seats just laying around very often. I guess if tehy wanted to they could take teh seats out of another car and out them in, but then they would have a base model RSX with no seats, or charge someone extra and give them leather seats (which I doubt). So they would end up ordering new seats anyway, I don't think they would do it for free, but they would do it.

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

Trust me go to a dealership and ask. They want you to be happy. They probally wont do it for free but they will do it. Just dont let them charge you and outrageous price because you are basically removing about a $1000 option.

Edit: According to car-parts.com the seats go for about the same price in leatehr or cloth so you could probally do it yourself for next to nothing.

Thanks for the info. Anyone know if the rear seats are much harder to replace? I would think so, but if not, maybe I'm on to something here...

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

I dount think they will do yellow unless yellow was a factory color somewhere I dont know about. Odds are you would have to get them redone and it will probally cost near a grand to get the seats done in yellow leather.

Edit: if you want custom leather I highly suggest http://www.katzkin.com/SITE/HTML/index.html

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

I'd post at ClubRSX. I'm 100% sure some poor bastard with cloth seats would gladly swap for your leather and pay the s/h.

Yeah, definetly. There are those who want leather seats and'll trade.

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

I am sure tehy will trade for leather, but colored leather is rare. It is available on teh NSX, they have matching int/ext colors, but matching RSX seats, not likely. You could just get race seats from pep-boys or something that match the color.

EDIT: I am not sure on the RSX, but most cars it only takes like 15 min to take out the back seat.

Re: RSX-S w/o Leather?

they have the resources to do that, because yellow is an option on some cars. But to make an RSX is not. They would probably charge you as much it regularly would for a paint job.
