Melted Fuse
Hey, I got a Question. I was wondering why my in-line fuse would have melted. I am running a 100x2 RMS Amp on a 10 gauge wire. I have a 30 amp in line fuse that melted. Why did this happen? How Do I stop this from happening again?

the fuse itself has melted right? check the amp draw on the amp (sounds funny) make sure that is below 30 amps/. if not run a higher rated fuse.. i think u can get glass fuses as slow blow too.

I wouldnt suggest using anything smaller then an 8 guage wire for power wire... even for small amps. Because the distance makes the amp work harder ~ so tiny wire, long distance... means the amp works harder then it needs to. I would suggest taking a look at your amp fuse(s) and see what they are... but I would also suggest you look into an 8 guage kit.

you also may wanna check if your power wire and ground have came into contact with each other, or the power into metal, that would short the system too.
i agree with what ^^^ said, change the wire to at least 8awg, or even just go 4into distro blocks so its easier for the amp to get constant power. plus if you ever upgrade the thicker wire is already there.

Your current draw on a 100 x 2 amp far exceeds 30 amps. On top of that the wire run (as previously suggested) is far too long to be supported by the gauge wire you are using.
Personally I feel 8 ga. is still too small. I would run 4 ga. and fuse it at the battery with an 80 amp fuse.
