Axle Help Please !!!

Guys I'm in a dilemma--

I just sideswipped a curb in my 2001 GT BULLIT and ruined my two right chrome rims and broke my rear axle. Believe it or not, I wasn't even driving crazy. The roads were wet and I paid the price for driving in the rain.

CAN I PUT any 94 + Mustang Axle on this car??

Does ANYONE know where I can get a good salvaged axle for cheap?

Does ANYONE have a line on some chrome BULLIT rims?

Thanks alot guys,

BROKENBULLIT

i'd get one from a 99+ non-cobra mustang. any decent junkyard will have it. the only reason i say 99+ is because then all the brake fittings etc are guaranteed to match up. ebay is decent for buying stuff like rims, but you may wanna just buy some locally.

The 79-93 Rear ends are 3 inches narrower than the 94-98 rear ends.

BTW I drive in the rain all the time......... maybe you should invest in better tires........ or put 3 sand bags in your trunk.

The rear end bolts into place fine, matter of fact, even the fox body rear end bolts into place. The issue is that the fox body uses drums and it 6 inches narrower than the 99+ rear ends. The 98-94 bolts in find, and is 3 inches narrower than the 99+ rear ends. The brakes on the 94-98 are the same as the 99+, so they are interchangeable. Also, he would be able to do the swap without replacing his caliper.

The IRS from the 99+ cobra's will bolt into any SN95 from 94-04 without issues or modifications. IMO, with a 94-98 body, the wheels tuck in nicely when used with a 99+ IRS. He would be able to use his existing caliper from the rear end without issue. The difference between a cobra rear end brake and GT/V6 is that the Cobra's come with a taller caliper braket, and of course bigger rotors. Also the 99 cobra rear brake pads are not as thick as the GT/V6 pads. The caliper itself is the same.

Awesome you guys are brilliant... but a little bit to technical...

I need the entire rear axle assembly... so should I get a 99+ Mustang rear end? Does it need to be a GT Mustang? V6 are different?

Thanks so much guys,

The V6 rear ends are 7.5inch, lighter in weight, and the axle housing is weaker by about 20% and don't have the mounts for the quad shocks if you use them. The axle's themselves as well as the brake hardware is the same between GT & V6.

Sorry, I like being technical
