won't start
1998 dodge/intrepid 2.7 Liter mileage: 92,500. My friend was backing out of a parking lot when the car just shut off. It will not start back. The engine rotates and hits but will not actually start. In checking out different things, I unplugged the camshaft position sensor and the car starts, I went and bought a new camshaft position sensor and put it on, vehicle still wouldn’t start, I unplugged it again and the car starts, but as soon as the camshaft position sensor is plugged back in the car shuts off. Any suggestions? Please Help.

Re: won't start
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you; took me a while to figure out what's wrong.........First thing I would check is if there are any vacuum leaks in the vicinity of the engine. Next thing I can think of is that if the engine runs if the cam sensor is unplugged is one of two things.........a faulty PCM or you could have a bad tone ring on your camshaft. If you get a chance have the car taken to a dealer and ask the cam sensor is working within proper parameters.

Re: Re: won't start
The PCM is not faulty. --that was checked--The car's PCM is designed to go into Limp mode and start if the camshaft position sensor is not in. I will ask the dealer about the vacuum leaks. I still need help..
