Re: starting wheight reduction

If you're serious about weight reduction, a fiberglass enclosure is not going to cut it.

Trust me, a good fiberglass enclosure is not all that lighter than a wood one. Just eliminate the system if you're into weight reduction.

Re: starting wheight reduction

I'll give a couple things on my mind lately for a drag only project I'm helping with. No sway bars (heavy!). No fuel tank. CF/FG hood (lift off, no hinges, latch, or other hardware). 1g "small" brakes. Only one race seat (a real race seat, weighs less than the 5 pt harness). No bumpers or brackets. 10 pound wheels, 40 lb savings, not to mention its rotating mass. Lightweight battery. Gutted doors (~100 pounds savings easily).

Not that many of these things apply to your street car, but its amazing how much weight you can lose if you go for it. Look at sheps car, down to 2600 and still has interior and full glass. Looks good too. That weight had to come from somewhere
