I have a strange probem

Yesterday when I started my car there was alot of white smoke coming from the tailpipe however afetr I drove it about a mile it stopped and didnt do it anymore until I started it this morning it did it again. Is it trying to tell me that the engine is bad? Thats what I originally thought but since it stopped I was puzzled. Any help would be appreciated..

How many miles are on your SL2? Does the smoke smell "sweet"? How cold was it when it did this?

Re: I have a strange probem

check coolent and oil levels. tomarrow, watch real close to see if its pure white smoke or if it has a grayish/blue tint to it.

it may be typical condensation, coolent, or oil

ok
My mechanic figured out my problem. I feel kinda dumb but the smoke was due to the fact that I over filled the crankcase with oil and slick 50 about a quart and a half causing the smoking. I am so relieved now that I know my motor isnt trashed. I just want to thank everyone who gave me advice though. I think this forum is fantastic and the people on it are incredible.. Thanks alot!!
