Question starter on 89 corsica

I feel like an idiot, but where is the starter on the 4cyl corsica? How do I replace it< Thanks

On the bottom of the engine. Dunno if its in front or back. Its a large round black/rusty cylinder thats probably completely covered with grease and oil. Take ou the two bolts taht hold it to the block, remove the wires from it and it drops out. Install the new one in reverse order.

Its right in front below the exhaust pipe right behind the fans.

unplug battery before working on starter or anything first!
-How do you no it's the starter
code be coroded terminal
-symptoms
usually if my starter dosent work i give the wire a wiggle

That is sooooo right. Sometimes it is just a corroded battery terminal. I had many of those on our cars.

or it could be the silonoid.. try to bypass it by connecting a screwdriver to both of the bolts on the top of the silonoid.

One thing to be wary of. It is possible that your starter has a "shim" between it and the engine, to properly space it, or, the replacement starter (if you DO replace it) may come with one that is needed. if you don't use it it can cause problems.
