Question Owners manual info- oilchange

Can someone please tell me what the owners manual says about factory reccommended oil changes.

Normal conditions, dusty roads, highway miles.

We've all heard the 3k miles/6 months... the best engine you'll ever own. This car is going to get the factory reccommended oil change interval, as it is driven one hundred highway miles a day, 5 days a week.

Also reccommended viscosity for local temperature in South Florida 70F-105F

Thanks,

Re: Owners manual info- oilchange

Thanks...... but is that what the owners manual says?.... I was expecting something more like 7500 for an hour drive each way every day...... clean smooth pavement.

I'm going to loose in my effort to save fossil resources and money if I have to change that oil every month.

Re: Owners manual info- oilchange

5w20 and every 3750 miles is what we recomend at my dealership. We have a couple 300k mile cars that have been serviced here since new.

Re: Owners manual info- oilchange

5w is factory, but i use 10w, a little heavier because my car burns oil at WOT, so it helps to lessen the loss of oil

Re: Owners manual info- oilchange

Or you can go synthetic I will be changing mine every 5000-6000 miles. Making sure of course to change the oil filter every 3000 miles and add oil as needed. If a corvette can go 7500 miles between oil changes (factory recomended) with Moible 1 synthetic I figure it should be ok to go 6000 with the same oil.
But if your motor has lots of miles (over 150,000) on it dont use synthetic it will leak really bad.

Re: Owners manual info- oilchange

My read on the maintenance schedule, gifted to me by TheSilentChamber, is 7500 miles seeing that I dont take a knock by one of the *harsh enviorment/use clauses.

Now if I were zoomin or racin hard, I would change as needed, but this is the old lady's work transportation. Aside from exceeding the speed limit. glazing the brakes and riding the clutch (hehe) , she's pretty much easy on a car. I like the 5w30, I'm already running that in some of the other cars. Everybody OK with Castrol GTX?

Whats a prefered oil filter.... I like Wix but am not sure about their product for the Honda.
