headlight replacement

i had my low beam bulb on th left side quit working and looking to replace it i figured it would be an easy fix. how in the hell do you get the bulb out.

Very carefully. Just wedge your hand behind it and then slowly twist it out.

If by the left side you mean driver's side it takes a little more than just a wedge of your hand. I removed the cover to the airfilter to gain access from behind the housing. It was still very cramped to get to. The most difficult part was reconnecting the power to the bulb. I had to fiddle around until I got it all lined up and then press the connector onto the bulb almost at the same time I was rotating the bulb into its locked position in the headlight housing. Naturally, I reconnected the inlet air temperature sensor and re-assembled the air-cleaner housing.

Estimated time (with all that and in the dark): 0.5 hours

P.S.: It beats trying to get rusted self-tapping sheetmetal screws out of the bracket assemblies that held the old sealed-beams in place on my '72 Cutlass Supreme (among others)!

i dont know if you still havent done it, as its been a few days since you posted... but i have done this 3 times now on that side (replaced with a better bulb... then the replacement one popped so i put the old one back in which still worked... then replaced again) and i can do it in 10 min in the dark even now (FIRST time took 30 min but i'm well practiced now =) )
here's what i do now:
completely loosen the hose clam at the air box, and slightly loosen the one at the throttle body-side of the hose. take the hose off the airbox and turn the hose so its just pointing straight up... take off the airbox top and airfilter too. i remove the wire from the bulb but i leave it in the area with the actual housing. then twist the bulb counterclockwise as you look at the back... and remove. i install the new bulb BEFORE i put the wire on, i dont know about other people... then i pull the wire back on as the bulb sits already locked in place.

also, some bulb companies, if not all, make a straight base bulb instead of the 90 degree one... that would make it a lot easier if you just grab a pair of those
(i recommend silverstars if you can get them for less than full price... even 9005's if you feel like modding them to fit in lowbeam slots)

i was trying to put the bulb in while still connected to wire. was much easier putting bulb in then adding wire thanks!!!!
