1996 Power door locks intermitent

The power door lock on the driver's side locks and unlocks intermitently from the remote. Not sure what is causing the problem (actuator maybe). It may work for days then not. Any ideas?

THe concensus on the 96 to 99 is that the actuators are cheap. THey cost about $45.00 each and are a PITA to change. I have the same problem on my 99 and there have been a couple of threads here lately that stated the same problem you are having. Sometimes lubing them helps.

power lock

Has anyone tried using aftermarket actuators or is it best to use Ford replacement ones. I know the one's for my streetrod cost about $20.

Re: 1999 Power door locks intermitent

I have a 1999 Taurus LX 4 and the drivers side back door will not unlock and lock! Is it hard to get to when lubbing them and where do you need to lube them, any tips!

I installed an after-market system on my 97 G and they seem to be holding up fine. I have not run into the mysterious locking problem with this system that I had, along with thousands of other owners, with the Merc Villager.

wrsekul : have you thought of checking the wiring (if it is power)?
