relay/ no start

WTF is the relay above the hood popper for? when i turn my key over it clicks from there. i removed it and no more clicking. i thought it was my main relay but it looks different from the pics i saw. and also my fuel pump still comes on when i have this one un plugged. also. my damn car wont start. put the new alt in today. and it started fine, drove around for 4 hours tonight, went to the gas station and nothing happened when i tried to start it, i had to bump it. i'm am so fucking frustrated right now, i ripped out my clutch switch which took an hour and it wasnt the problem, and i'm not putting that fucking switch back in because i threw it down the street cuz i was pissed right off. any idea on wtfs wrong with this POS?

I know when my main relay went bad, I still heard the damn thing clicking everytime. What some of my symptoms were, it would start fine for the day but when drive it no matter how long or far, if i tried to start it back up it would fire then die in a few seconds. Starting fluid worked for a little while. So did jumpin it. But it would crank strong no matter what it just wouldn't fire. But if you need a picture of a main relay here it is. It's located right above the coin holder thing on the driver's side.

Re: relay/ no start

Wow - you got me - I've never had a problem with my main relay, so I can't say what that sounds like or the symptoms. Are there any other symptoms?

its not my damn main relay! its the starter.... i replace the alternator yesterday and now lastnight the starter fucked up! i'd sit there and go to crank it over and my buddy lightly and i mean LIGHTLY tapped the starter.... well.... basically touched it with my long pry bar and it fired up, u didnt have to wail on it with force. so its on its way out. but lastnight we did that about 9 times and after that it fired fine no matter what all night

Re: relay/ no start

check your grounds man, hell run a new ground, ground it to the start bolt and see if that fixes it.

Re: relay/ no start

That relay above the hood release is the STARTER RELAY. You'll probably need that to start the car. Mine was loose so I tightened it up and car started right up. Pic here
