Question 93 Grand Caravan 3.3: no spark

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I'm desperate for some diagnostic help. We bought a 93 G-Caravan 3.3 a week ago and three days later it would not start; turns over find but no fire. No symptoms the previous three days at all, so I don't blame the dealership (yet!). A friend did a check on the plug wires and said there is no spark from the coils. We can hear the fuel pump engage, but we're pretty sure it's not a fuel prob anyway. No codes because before I even KNEW they existed, we had removed the battery leads to clean the terminals. We believe the prob is somewhere between the battery and the coils.

I'm (5 years) new to DIY auto repair but if shown, I catch on fast. I've been through over 1000 posts (literally) on this site and searched several other online rescources. Learned quite a bit, just not enough :-)

Can anyone help with these questions:

1) Is it true that if sensors are pulled to be checked that a new 'spacer' needs to be attached before reinstalling? (Chilton note on all sensors)

2) How many different sensors will cause the computer to refuse a spark? I am aware of camshaft and crankshaft

3) Does anyone know of a good reference (preferably online) that a layman can use to actually locate these various components? (Hayes and Chilton illustrations are so narrow that I can't tell where the pics are at in relation to the overall engine.)

ThanX for any input.
-Don

Alldata has pretty good diagrams and info for such issues.

I just bought my Caravan for $25 and it has paid off already.
