'95 S-10 Blazer loading up(gas)

I have a blazer that all of a sudden started sputtering, and loading up. I had a problem with my fuel injector about a year and a half ago. I replaced it and it has worked good til now. I am not losing much power, but if I try to idle it will cut off from getting too much gas. I am not going to start tearing it down and replacing parts and sensors. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks

It sounds as if two things are possibly happening. First off, a scanner should be hooked up and the live data stream viewed, but in lieu of that, you can do the following.

If you can check fuel pressure, do that first. Your looking to see if it is within specs and does not leak down.

Next, pull the top cover off that says Vortec and remove the Intake Manifold Tuning Valve and peer into the plenum to see if there is a fuel leak from the CPI. If you see fuel or there is a strong odor of raw fuel, you unit is leaking and needs replaced.

If everything checks, you need to post a little more info, like, does it do it when cold or hot or both. If it is doing it when hot only, you could have a bad O2 sensor when it is going into closed loop. If cold, then I would suspect the CPI unit. If both hot and cold, suspect the CPI unit.

In reality, this is only an assumption since more info is needed and in reality, if you do the above checks you should really have it scanned or you could end up shotgunning it.

It first started while it was hot driving down the road. I've tried since,to start it, and it won't even stay cranked without holding the accelerator down some. I've been through this with the fuel injector. I replaced it and it turned out being the lines to the injector were cracked. It just seems to be acting a little different. Maybe it's just worse. I can't really drive it to put it on a computer. That's why I'm open for suggestions. Thanks for your reply, Mikado14, I'll take any advice.

I would go ahead and pull the IMTV off and looking into the depths of the plenum. Won't cost you anything and you might just find the culprit is your CPI unit.

Well, I took it apart and here is what I found. On the driver's side, it is real dirty in the plenum and also some fuel. On the other, looks cleaner. I tried to upload a pic, but it said the file was too big. What does everybody think?

Sounds like the regulator on your CPI is leaking for it appears from your description that you are getting washing on the passenger side.

Time to get a new CPI unit. You may also want to get a new nut kit which are the two lines coming into the plenum, one is supply the other is return. Also, a new plenum gasket with the red stripe up.

Yeah, I,ve done all this a little over a year ago. You know it would go bad again just when the warranty on the part goes dead. Thanks man, guess I'm gonna have to start a fundraiser to buy these parts,lol.

Take the upper plenum plate off and check for the injector leaking again.

Then take a look at the fuel lines going into the injector and look for leaking.
